Mission Statement
The mission of the Stewardship Department is to emphasize the lordship of Jesus Christ, to enhance the integration of the gospel into the Christian lifestyle, to encourage faithful stewardship, and to facilitate the individual, corporate, and leadership dimensions of stewardship as partnership with God.
Vision Statement
The vision of the Stewardship Department is to acknowledge and facilitate the individual, corporate, and leadership dimensions of faithfulness to God. As we succeed, the Stewardship Department of the future will result in the following characteristics:
- A growing and consistent vision of biblical stewardship.
- A growing staff of world church stewardship leaders.
- Materials that will help pastors lead their members in a more integrated Christian walk.
- Growing individual and corporate faithfulness.
This vision will be accomplished through a combination of education and modeling as we focus on training stewardship leaders and cooperating with church leadership around the world. The primary ingredients will be:
- Expanding the biblical philosophy of life and ministry with careful attention to faithful stewardship in our partnership with God.
- Training personnel on each ministry level in spiritual formation (discipleship) and stewardship education.
- Developing resources to strengthen the wholistic approach to stewardship.
- Continuing implementation and further development of the stewardship certification as an ongoing process within the Stewardship Department, as well as the refinement and enhancement of the stewardship curriculum.
Department Focus - The General Conference Stewardship Department will have the following prioritized focus:
- Developing and promulgating a biblical approach to stewardship ministries.
- Refining, expanding and implementing a stewardship certification process and curriculum.
- Training division and union stewardship personnel as leaders and trainers.
- Integrating and cooperating with organizational administrators of different church entities.
- Developing and/or coordinating materials appropriate for the world field and encouraging local materials which are consistent with the overall stewardship philosophy and vision.
- Training of conference/mission and church personnel as part of the process of modeling and training division and union personnel.
Department Logo - Living Lordship
The Christian lives between the two focal points of the Cross and the Second Coming. Jesus Christ has two crowns. The crown of thorns reflects His identification with us on Calvary. The crown of victory reflects His Lordship in heaven and on earth.
Just as Christ found the road to the throne of God through a hill called Calvary, so as we experience the cross in Him, we share in His victory. He lifts us to share His throne, to wear the crown He holds for us.
